Dutch drugstore Etos has recently launched a new makeup line and I got some products in to test. Today I show them to you.
Last autumn Etos has launched a whole new make-up range. The products have improved quality and innovative packaging. With this, they have quality and luxury made affordable!
I got some products in from this new range. I was really impressed with the quality of these products.
Hydrating Primer – €5,99
You apply the primer after your day cream and this ensures that your foundation stays neatly in place all day long. It moisturizes the skin and makes that you need less foundation.
My foundation has trouble to stay in place. By using this primer it indeed stays neatly in place and doesn’t stick into the fine lines.
When applying the primer appears to be somewhat greasy, if it really hydrates the skin very well I dare not say. I have long searched for a good foundation and at this moment I use the Diorskin Star foundation. This foundation doesn’t leave my skin dry and dehydrated.
The primer comes in a hygienic vacuum pump. You only need a little bit product and it easy to apply over the skin and is quickly absorbed.
Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Squalane, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, CI 42090, CI 77891.
There are a lot of silicone in this primer. Cosmetic ingredients usually are in order of predominance. Cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone are two silicones that are often to be found in cosmetics.
Blush – €3,99
I got the blush in the color Wild Sunset, a warm pink color. The color is very beautiful and has a very fine gold shimmer. A beautiful color to apply on the apples of the cheeks.
On the macro above you can see the golden shimmer.
In terms of pigment it is good. You need just a little bit for a healthy blush on the cheeks.
Eyeshadow Primer – €3,99
The Eyeshadow Primer makes that your eye makeup stays perfectly in place all day and night. You put a small layer on the eyelids and under the brow bone.
It is a fine substance which does have a fairly typical odor. Like my foundation my eyeshadow also has trouble to stay in place. I myself like to use the Primer Potion from Urban Decay and I had hoped that this Etos Eyeshadow Primer would be a budget alternative. My eyeshadow stayed slightly better in place than without primer, but I find my Urban Decay Primer really a lot better. So unfortunately this is not a budget alternative.
The list of ingredients was on the back of a sticker that is glued on the packaging. Unfortunately, this wasn’t readable so I can not tell you what’s in it.
Eyeshadow Palette – €6,99
This Bed of Roses eyeshadow palette contains six beautiful eyeshadows. The first three bright colors have a subtle shimmer and the last three are matte eyeshadows. You can either make a subtle look and a wonderful smoky evening look.
The pigment is really not bad for such a budget product, I’ve seen them worse. The eyeshadows are a bit crumbly unfortunately.
Highlighting Powder – 3,99
I love highlighters! This is a rather warm color that really does not look very special but appearances are deceiving. It is a beautiful highlighter that gives a brilliant shine. I like to apply my highlighter on my cheekbones, nose and cupids bow.
The pigment of this highlighter is insane! An absolute budget winner!
Fixing Spray – €4,99
A fixing spray could be seen as the topcoat of your makeup. It ensures that your makeup stays neat and does not smudge. Also, it shall ensure that a layer of powder is no longer visible, it melts and provides an even finish.
When you’re done with your makeup, spray your face from about 10cm. The moist layer absorbs quickly. It gave the feeling of tension on the skin but luckily that was quickly gone. I am happy with the spray, it does what it should do. The smell is quite chemical but fortunately that doesn’t last long.
Aqua, Alcohol Denat., Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Phenoxyethanol, PVP, Isopropyl Alcohol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Parfum, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate.
First thing I notice is the presence of alcohol, this is probably the culprit of the tension I felt. My skin does not react well on alcohol and since it is listed as the second ingredient the percentage is quite high. Also the presence of perfume can be seen as a disadvantage but in this product, it is not very predominantly present.
I find the products qualitatively very good for the price. It’s a very nice assortment with great choice. I will try to make a beautiful look with it, I find that quite exiting since I’m not a start before the camera I rather be behind it.
